Listening and Advising
Understanding our clients’ goals, expectations and needs is the foundation of a successful attorney-client relationship. Before we advise clients about their legal issues we make sure to ask the right questions and listen carefully to the answers. Before we can help plan your legal strategy, we need to know what you want to accomplish.
Almost every case filed in the courts of the United States ultimately is resolved by settlement. The best outcomes of legal disputes are produced by good negotiators. We believe deeply in the value and power of negotiation.
Settlements are most effective when they are achieved with the informed participation of the people who will be affected by the settlement – the clients. Mediation provides a private, cost-effective, and meaningful forum for resolving legal problems. As mediators, we work as unbiased neutrals to assist clients in negotiating their own settlements. As attorneys, we provide legal advice to clients who are engaging in mediation with outside neutrals.
If utilizing the court system is the right choice or is involuntarily imposed on a client, we will advocate zealously for you in that forum. We will work with you to develop effective litigation strategies that are cost-conscious, ethical, and responsible.
We utilize a secure state-of-the-art, cloud-based case management system, Clio, to manage client files, to maintain and produce detailed time and billing records, to prepare, store and share documents, to communicate with clients, and to perform other internal case management tasks. In family law cases we utilize a sophisticated program, Family Law Software, to prepare financial documents, conduct tax-impact analysis, and evaluate options for asset division, support payments, and pension division. We have developed document forms, worksheets, and templates to allow for efficient sharing of information with clients and preparation of filings and documents. Client meetings can be conducted by telephone conference calls, online video conferencing, and other online applications.
